AMISH-STYLE DUMPLINGS OR ROLLS — A POTLUCK FAVORITE

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.

  2. Add eggs, melted butter, and salt. Mix.

  3. Gradually stir in flour until a soft dough forms.

  4. Knead on a floured surface 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1–2 hours until doubled.

  6. Punch down dough and shape into rolls. Place on greased baking sheet or in a pan.

  7. Cover and let rise again 30–45 minutes.

  8. Preheat oven to 375°F / 190°C. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden.

  9. Brush warm rolls with butter before serving.
