Chicken Fried Steak

Instructions

  1. Season the steak
    Pat steaks dry and season both sides with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder.

  2. Prepare dredging station

    • Bowl 1: 1 cup flour

    • Bowl 2: egg and milk, whisked together

  3. Coat the steaks
    Dredge steak in flour → dip into egg mixture → dredge again in flour. Press coating firmly.

  4. Fry
    Heat oil over medium-high heat.
    Fry steaks 3–4 minutes per side until crispy and golden brown.
    Remove and keep warm.

  5. Make the gravy

    • Pour off oil, leaving 2 tbsp in the pan

    • Whisk in 2 tbsp flour; cook 1 minute

    • Slowly whisk in milk

    • Simmer until thick

    • Season with salt and black pepper

  6. Serve
    Place steak on a plate and pour hot gravy generously over the top.
