Italian Sausage with Peppers and Onions

Instructions

  1. Brown the sausages
    Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
    Add sausages and brown on all sides (about 8–10 minutes). Remove and set aside.

  2. Cook peppers and onions
    In the same skillet, add onions and peppers.
    Cook until soft and lightly caramelized, about 8–10 minutes.
    Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.

  3. Season
    Sprinkle with salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes if using.

  4. Combine and simmer
    Return sausages to the pan.
    Add tomato sauce if using.
    Cover and simmer on low for 10–15 minutes until sausages are fully cooked and juicy.

  5. Serve
    Serve hot in rolls, over pasta, or with potatoes.
