Instructions

  1. Bake the cake
    Prepare and bake the chocolate cake according to package directions in a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Let cool slightly.

  2. Add the coconut layer
    In a bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk and shredded coconut.
    Spread evenly over the warm cake, gently pressing it into the surface.

  3. Make the chocolate topping
    Heat heavy cream and butter in a small saucepan until hot but not boiling.
    Remove from heat and stir in chocolate chips until smooth and glossy.

  4. Finish the cake
    Pour the chocolate frosting evenly over the coconut layer.
    Spread gently to cover.

  5. Chill and serve
    Refrigerate at least 1 hour to set. Slice and serve.
