Cook the sweet potatoes
Boil sweet potatoes in salted water until fork-tender, about 15–20 minutes. Drain well. -
Make the filling
Mash sweet potatoes until smooth.
Stir in sugar, milk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until fully combined. -
Assemble
Spread the sweet potato mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. -
Make the topping
In a bowl, mix brown sugar, flour, melted butter, and pecans until crumbly.
Sprinkle evenly over the sweet potatoes. -
Bake
Bake at 350°F / 175°C for 30–35 minutes, until the topping is golden and the edges are set.
